- About Me:
- I am a professional journalist working for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty since 1991.
My work as a field reporter in Romania, and as a broadcaster at RFE/RL headquarters in Prague helped me understand the challenges of broadcasting international and local news and features in a very interesting period of the last century: the transition to democracy of former comunist countries.
More than 18 years I wrote news, reports, analysis and features about regions targeted by RFE/RL, and I conducted over one thousand interviews and live discussions on all subjects possible in international and domestic fields.
I interviewed politicians, decision makers, as well as a broad range of personalities from all over the world.
I spoke among others with British jazz guitar player John McLaughlin, with Dan McCafferty (frontman of rock band Nazareth), Ibrahim Ag Alhabib (leader of Tinariwen, a Touareg band from Mali), Sofa Surfers (an alternative band form Vienna), Stefan Jungmeyer (aka Mummer, an alternative electro jazz musician also from Vienna) Fanfara Ciocarlia and Taraf Des Haiduks from Romania, and many, many other artists,
but also with Hendrik Hertzberg (chief political commentator at The New Yorker and former speechwriter for president Jimmy Carter), Romanian presidents Traian Basescu, Emil Constantinescu and Ion Iliescu, with former Romanian Prime Ministers Calin Popescu Tariceanu, Radu Vasile and Victor Ciorbea, former Romanian justice minister Monica Macovei, US Congressman and former chairman of US Helsinki Committee Christopher Smith, Baronness Emma Nicholson MEP, Graham Watson MEP, leader of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament, Elmar Brok MEP etc.
One of my dearest projects at RFE/RL was the Dictionary Of Sounds, a 6 minutes weekly musical show, dealing mostly with alternative/underground/world music. Another musical project very dear to me is Dictionary Of Rare Sounds, a joint venture RFE/RL - www.alternativ.ro, which I hosted for about 2 years at www.radioalternativ.ro. Enjoy on this page some of the radio musical shows I concieved/produced/presented at RFE/RL and alternative.ro.
